Nonfrasa is delighted to announce its inaugural participation in Chapter Jogja 2025.
Our booth features works by artists with a history of exhibitions at the gallery, including Chiara Hardy and Nyoman Darmawan, who will soon present new works in solo exhibitions. The works of Pande Wardina, Kadek Armika, and Wahyu Nugo continue to explore their established language, engaging with themes of culture, environmental concerns, and aspects of modern sculpture. Mahendra Yasa displays his ongoing series, emphasising technical skill alongside experimental approaches, including new works in non-photorealistic rendering. Filippo Sciascia and Ida Bagus Punia examine the processes of collecting and transmitting order and chaos within their practices, reflecting on learning as an evolving exploration of form and meaning in their painting.

Common Beauty III - The Poetry of Patches is an exhibition that explores the intersection of landscape, memory, and the art of mending. Bringing together artists who work with paintings, paper, ceramics, textiles, and photography, the exhibition examines how landscapes—both natural and urban—can be seen as patchworks of history, erosion, and renewal.
Curated by Gatari Surya Kusuma, featuring Betty Susiarjo, Chiara Hardy, Galih Adika, Ida Bagus Punia, Lintang Diani, Nani Wijaya, Nyoman Arisana, Rega Ayundya, Restu Ratnaningtyas, Talisa Dwiyani, and Piki Suyersa.

For Gusti Kade, sewing fabric is an act of connecting personal and narrative meanings. It reveals how he reinterprets his cultural heritage and childhood experiences through material exploration. He stitches memories and spirituality into abstract forms, creating a new visual language that, while not literal, is rich with cultural and emotional resonance. The 'Tusuk Kusut' exhibition itself is a reflective projection of this meditative encounter between memory and transformation.

Bali is often singularly portrayed as a unique Hindu island, a legacy inherited from the Majapahit empire. This narrative, crafted since the Dutch colonial era, has consistently linked Bali's identity to Hinduism. Consequently, this dominant image may have marginalised other narratives about Bali that extend beyond its Hindu identity. In the "Melihat Bali dari Berbagai Sisi" series, Nuturang aims to provide space for these less dominant narratives.

Further Reading, in collaboration with CON TEMPORARY and Ruang Arta Derau, is thrilled to present ‘Riso Room: Bali Edition’ at RAD Artspace, Tegallalang in Bali, from Saturday, 24 May to Tuesday, 10 June 2025!
The artworks reflect on living spaces, cocooning, routine, and the often-overlooked details of daily life. They also explore the intimate relationship between artists and the objects that inhabit their personal workspaces—offering insight into how these dynamics shift within an exhibition context.

KARAT will host the Paras Book Showcase, featuring an exciting convo with Radit Mahindro and Krisna Sudharma.
We’ll talk about Paras Book, unfiltered Q&As, and how they gradually evolved from a platform to serve multiple ideas and purposes—emerging through an unintentional process of collecting and repurposing.
It’s a chill session, but heads up book stock is limited so we encourage you to arrive early—first come, first served.

Apel Hendrawan is a painter, sculptor, tattoo artist, environmental activist and Balinese Hindu priest. A life journey that has seen him go through a battle with the forces of dark and light. A drug overdose that saw him incarcerated in the Bangli Asylum for the insane. Apel’s creative journey led him through experimentation until he eventually found his ‘voice’. A settled, more mature condition that reflects his state of grace.
This event is a celebration of the life journey and creative legacy of Wayan Apel Hendrawan, spanning half a century. Through a powerful art installation and the launch of his personal biography, this retrospective unveils a story of struggle, transformation, and the search for meaning through art.

Jia CURATED 2025 begins its journey with Road to Jia CURATED, an immersive exhibition introducing this year’s theme, Evolving Perspectives.
